What are the CSV pre-requisites for using the converter ?

Some CSV files produce errors in the converter.

It would help a lot to be aware of these pre-requisites before trying to convert CSV files, both from a technical POV, and regarding required fields (which happen after a few steps).

Apparently UTF-8 is required (ISO-8856-1 seems to break accents), and it would be key information to know how to structure geodata (single field vs 2 fields, use of comma vs dot...), or handle some variations.

    Hi,

In my experience, the convertor works well with files that:

    • contain as a minimum set of fields: an id, title, latitude and longitude (possibly in one field)
    • the geocoordinates can be either in seperate fields or in one field if formatted as such: "latitudelongitude"
    • if they are in separate fields latitude and longitude should be concatenated in the convertor (final step: geocoordinates field) but a space character should be explicitely added by dragging the "custom text" field in between them and typing a space in the box
    • In terms of formatting, delimiter can be , or ; and text can optionally be enclosed with double quotes
    • Like you discovered, it's best to use UTF-8. Both LF and CR line-endings are recognized

    Good luck!
